The thought of this domain popped in my head around a year ago. I thought it would be a great idea to use this domain to discuss and highlight optimism in life instead of all the dreary pessimism that seems to overtake the spotlight.

Obviously, I haven’t had time to do much by way of contributing to my idea, but I would still like this to be a repository for positive thinking . . . reports of good deeds, positive news, something other than what is predominant in society. If you have stumbled on this site and feel like you have a positive outlook on life, would like your optimistic voice to be heard, or just have something nice to share, drop me a line at thevoice@voiceofoptimism.com. Tell me a little about yourself and why you feel your view on the world rises above the constant hum of negativity.

Thanks for looking and remember . . . get a little optimism in your life!

At an ever increasing rate, the news of the day is overpoweringly negative. We continually hear about the worsening economic situation. Large numbers of people losing their jobs. Dishonesty in business leading to failures. There is rarely any hope reported. How would this world be different if we decided to merely acknowledge the negative events occurring around us and decide to focus on the positive? I know people who haven’t been affected by the economic downturn that are becoming severely disabled in their everyday function due to the constant flow of economic doom and gloom emanating from the news media. An initial appraisal of the situation would lead many to assign blame to our friendly news outlets. I know news is a business and the only reason these networks exist is to sell advertising space. Traditionally, the more negative and shocking the story, the higher the rating. I’m no fan of the major news outlets, but I guess I shouldn’t be so quick to assign them the entire responsibility. The problem starts with us. Where do we decide to focus our attention? What do we decide to watch on TV? If we started giving them lower ratings by not indulging in the negativity on the news, they would change their model to meet the demand for a better class of news.

Make the decision . . . get a little optimism in your life!
